Upcoming Event: Brown Ink Fundraiser

Founded in 2000 by College of Arts and Sciences faculty and staff to honor the memory of Steve Hollander, the Brown Ink Society gives grants to students faced with unexpected financial emergencies. Hollander—a professor in the Department of English and Linguistics for 30 years—left a great legacy of teaching, leadership, and generosity. The society’s name memorializes his use of brown ink when writing comments on student papers.

The annual Brown Ink Society fundraiser is on Friday, April 6 from 5–7pm in the Alumni Center. Events include the unveiling of a painting of the founders by Professor Audrey Ushenko (fine arts) and a silent auction featuring art created by university faculty and staff, including communication science and disorders secretary Joanne Blosser’s glass art as seen on the College of Arts and Sciences Meet the Staff video.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $30 per person or $50 for two—although larger donations are welcome! Please contact Teri Luce at lucet@pfw.edu for tickets or more information.
