Professor Janet Badia (women’s studies) was cited in an op-ed in the Guardian newspaper, “Sylvia Plath’s Bikini Shot: It’s Time to Stop Sexualising a Serious Author to Sell Books.” The author draws from Badia’s 2011 book, Sylvia Plath and the Mythology of Women Readers to support her argument that photos that sexualize Plath, when used as primary visual representations (such as book cover images), “has dictated the terms of Plath’s reception by the literary establishment and by popular media.” You can learn more about Badia’s book on its Facebook page.
