In Memoriam: Professor Emeritus James Haw

We are saddened to announce the passing of IPFW Emeritus Professor of History James Alfred Haw on Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 at home. Haw was a faculty member of IPFW’s Department of History for 39 years. He specialized in colonial through Civil War American history, was the principle co-author of Stormy Patriot: the Life of Samuel Chase (1980), and the author of John and Edward Rutledge of South Carolina (1997). Haw was also an avid bird-watcher and a member of the National Audubon Society and Indiana Audubon Society.

The funeral service for Haw will be held Saturday, January 21, with visitation from 9–11a.m. and the service starting at 11a.m., at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Nature Conservancy or IPFW Brown Ink Society. For more details, see here.
