In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Department of International Language and Culture Studies (ILCS) is sponsoring Spotlight on Argentina, a week of activities that celebrate Argentinian culture. The Spotlight on Argentina kicks off on Monday, September 19th, when the Office of International Education will offer a presentation on the opportunities available to IPFW students to study abroad. On Tuesday, September 20th, Patric Didier and a team from Fred Astaire Fort Wayne will lead basic tango instruction for beginners in the Walb Classic Ballroom. On Wednesday, September 21st, Didier and a partner will join Cuarteto Tanguero to perform both traditional and contemporary tango music and dance at Rhinehart Music Center. Finally, on Friday, September 23rd the Fort Wayne Cinema Center will hold a screening of the film, The German Doctor, followed by a panel discussion. The same event will also feature a special screening of The Secret of the Lost Station by Associate Professor of Computer Animation Andrés R. Montenegro. Looking for even more National Hispanic Heritage Month events? The Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is also sponsoring events through September and October, including a Hispanic Heritage Kick-Off and a celebration of Dia de los Muertos (see the flier for details). The Fort Wayne Cinema Center is also holding its first Latino Film Fest, which will run September 22nd–25th.
